PST Dads - Welcoming 5 new members!

At last, Dads get active in Parent Support Team(PST) activities!

Until recently, it has been the Moms who have been volunteering to organize PST activities. 

Now, it is heartening to see some Abraar Fathers come forward to help the PST. Namely:

Bake Sale February 20th from 4pm-7pm

The Parents Support Team (PST) cordially invites you to the Bake Sale Fundraiser that will be running during the Student Led Conferences on 

Friday, February 20th from 4pm-7pm

@ Hallway next to the Abraar School Gym (Elementary Branch) - 70 Fieldrow Street

The PST events help raise funds for different activities in school. We need your support and help, so we hope to see all of you during this wonderful event.

How can YOU help make this event a success? 

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3….. 

1. By donating a food item for the bake sale.  To ensure a variety of dishes, we have divided the bake sale donation categories as follow: 

Appetizers	SK2, Gr.1a, Gr.2b, Gr.3a, Gr.4b, Gr.5a, Gr.6b
Desserts	SK1, Gr.1b, Gr.2a, Gr.3b, Gr.4a, Gr.5b, Gr.6a
Drinks (Juice Boxes- Pop - Water Bottles)	JK1, JK2 & Abraar School Staff

2. Dropping off all Food/Drink items at the ADMIN OFFICE on the morning of February 20th, 2015 and not brought in later on in the day.  
3. Ensuring that the donated items are NUT-FREE and self-serving (no scooping/cutting required). Bakers are asked to place bake goods in small baggies for individual sale; i.e: two to four cookies or one medium brownie per bag.

For Small Businesses:
If you are a small business and would like to donate you may do the following:

Place your business cards with your donated items

• Have a small display (12 inches x 18 inches ; and maximum 12 inches high) with your business logo on it along with the donated items. (for example, a foam stand with cake pops on it and your logo printed on the stand.)
• Please drop-off food by 3:00pm at the Fieldrow location. 

Toonie Tuesday, Tuesday February 3rd 2015

Tuesday February 3rd 2015 will be Toonie Tuesday in both elementary and secondary schools.
Please encourage your child to participate by NOT wearing his/her uniform and bringing a toonie.

The money collected is given to the PST and is part of fundraising for the school.

PST Meeting on Saturday January 31,2015 at 10am @ IKEA Restaurant.

The Parents Support Team would like would like to invite ALL the Parents and staff at Abraar School to the Parents Support Team (PST) Meeting on 

Saturday, January 31st at Ikea restaurant at 10 a.m.

If you are interested in volunteering with the PST and the events it organizes please attend this meeting. The PST is looking for volunteers for the upcoming shows: Talent show, BBQ and Hot Lunch Program.
The agenda will be put up a few days before the meeting inshAllah.

PST Hot Lunch Volunteer

Hot Lunch Volunteer Update

Asalamoalaikum Abraar Parents,

The PST would like to share with you a situation that happened on Friday, December 19th 2014.

There are a total of 5 parents who rotate each week for the Hot Lunch Program
Three volunteers are needed every hot lunch day to distribute Pizza/Fatayer to students.

Out of the 5 parents who have committed for the Hot Lunch Program,  2 were ill and 2 had left for vacation.  A PST mother was able to rush to the school from work to help out  and Sister Naida was also able to arrange for a second volunteer at the last minute.

Keeping in mind that there are 400 students and probably 800 parents, it is very sad that no more than 5 people have even agreed to volunteer.

The PST at this time is not prepared to carry out activities in the school. even the hot lunch program is very hard to execute with such a small team.

After the above mentioned episode, the PST has been rethinking the hot lunch program for next year.
We came very close to shutting it down this term, but for the sake of the children, we are giving it another try.

This message is a request to all parents to please step up and help us out. It is just 30 minutes of your time once per week.

Due to the delay in announcing the Hot Lunch program the submission date has been changed to be Monday, January 12th 2015

The Hot Lunch Program at Abraar School is run by parent volunteers on The Parents Support Team (PST).  Its aim is to provide students with a nice hot lunch that they can enjoy with their friends, as well as to raise funds for fun school projects and events. 

In order to make things more efficient for all involved, PST sends out a lunch order form every 3 months for the whole school year.

Please note : Pizza Vendor for this year  is 1for1 Pizza(2900 Woodroffe Ave.)  and Fatayer from Al-Noor Bakery.

The Hot Lunch team is time constraint with limited volunteers and follows deadlines strictly. Absolutely NO late orders will be processed.
